Braid Hills 2011

By EuTri - Posted on 26 November 2011

The 2011 Braids Hill race was a great day out for all those involved. Around 9 competitors from EuTri competed with several good times being posted and most importantly, a case of cider being won.

Before the race, the vital task of donning green face paint was completed and a thorough warm up and stretching were conducted. Other important preparations were also made such as rating other runners on their quality of their tracksuits, where a Romanian national runner took first place. EuTri runners were then reminded that club pride was on the line and that Sexy Dec, Scotland’s newest ‘Young Triathlon Coach of the Year’, would not settle for poor performances.

The weather on the day was perfect; dry and mild. However, the course was still wet from rain the night before meaning that there were some very muddy areas which quickly deteriorated making running difficult. Apart from these muddy bits though, the course was in good shape with several water and horse shit obstacles making for interesting congested running.

After the race, a group discussion was held to analyse the race and to discuss the merits of the different cake styles that were on sale. Opinions were that the race was pretty tough and that the best cake was chocolate brownie which combined great taste with lots of much needed calories. Shortly after these insightful findings, an announcement was made that EuTri had won the crate of cider as prize for being the fastest university team. The team went ballistic as the realisation hit that the main aim of the day had been achieved- no one would go thirsty for at least another half an hour, and Sexy Dec would be very pleased, very pleased indeed.
